A collaboration with Ivan Wong from In-Between Design Office in Hong Kong, the concept of this boutique hotel was based on the mindset behind traditional Chinese painting, “Be bold when the brush first touches, be sensitive when finishing the last stroke.” In retrospect, it was interesting to see the similarities between Chinese paintings and hotel guest room design. For example, one small brush stroke can change the dynamics of the overall painting, just as one tiny lighting detail can change the guests’ emotions and feelings.
